Estimated read time 21 min read

An annular solar eclipse will occur on Oct. 2, 2024, when the moon’s central shadow will not quite reach Earth. The result will be a ‘ring of fire’ visible to those within a broad path across the Pacific Ocean and southern South America.

At the point of greatest eclipse in the Pacific, the moon will cover 93% of the sun’s center, and that ‘ring of fire’ will be visible for 7 minutes and 25 seconds.
