Millionaire baby gets richer! Narayana Murthy’s grandson to earn Rs 4 crore from Infosys dividend

Five-month-old boy Ekagrah Rohan Murty, who became a millionaire last month after getting a generous gift of 15 lakh Infosys shares from his billionaire grandfather NR Narayana Murthy, has pocketed another Rs 4.2 crore in the form of dividend income.

While announcing the company’s Q4 numbers, Infosys declared a total dividend of Rs 28 on Thursday, including a final dividend of Rs 20 and a special dividend of Rs 8.

The record date for the payment of the final dividend and a special dividend has been fixed at May 31, while the payment will be made on July 1.

Murthy’s grandson owns 15 lakh shares or 0.04% stake in the Bengaluru-based software services exporter. At today’s market price of Rs 1,400, the value of his holding comes to Rs 210 crore.

Considering that Ekagrah will not sell off his shares anytime soon, the baby is entitled to earn a handsome dividend of Rs 4.2 crore.

Ekagrah was born to Infosys Founder NR Narayana Murthy’s son Rohan Murthy and daughter-in-law Aparna Krishnan on November 10 last year in Bengaluru.Rohan has a PhD in computer science from Harvard University and runs the Boston-headquartered software firm Soroco. Ekagrah is the third grandkid of Narayana Murthy and wife Sudha Murthy who took oath as a Rajya Sabha MP last week.

Bengaluru’s iconic couple have two other grandchildren – Krishna and Anoushka – daughters of Akshata Murty and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

At the end of the December quarter, Akshata owned a 1.05% stake in Infosys, Sudha 0.93% and Rohan 1.64%.

Murthy had started Infosys way back in 1981 along with six other co-founders. Besides Ashok Arora, who left the software services exporter in 1989 to settle in the US, all the co-founders are now billionaires.
