equity block deals: Rs 16,600-cr worth block deals take place this week; Mankind Pharma, Shriram Finance see significant action

Notwithstanding a truncated trading week, Nifty50 ended 1.6% higher on a weak-on-weak basis. Over three dozen companies from large, mid and smallcap segments witnessed prominent block deals worth Rs 16,624 crore which included both buying and selling action.

In the largecap segment, 15 companies witnessed significant block deals that were worth Rs 8,026 crore led by Mankind Pharma which saw equity worth Rs 2,639 crore changing hands. The next in line were IndusInd Bank (Rs 895 crore), Axis Bank (Rs 816 crore), HDFC Life Insurance (Rs 614 crore), Reliance Industries (Rs 570 crore), State Bank of India (Rs 548 crore), Mahindra & Mahindra (Rs 348 crore), and Kotak Mahindra Bank (Rs 243 crore).

Sun Pharmaceuticals, NTPC, Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Dr Reddy’s Laboratories and Grasim Industries also saw block deals between Rs 240 crore and Rs 146 crore.

The data has been compiled by brokerage firm Nuvama and pertains to deals done this week between 8:45 am and 3:30 pm.

Source: NuvamaIn the midcap segment, a dozen companies witnessed prominent block deals on screen which were worth Rs 4,253 crore. The leader in the pack was Shriram Finance with a deal size of Rs 1,793 crore followed by IDFC First Bank (Rs 1,327 crore), Zee Entertainment (Rs 323 crore) and Max Healthcare (Rs 210 crore). The others were Delhivery, Macrotech Developers, Oberoi Realty, Policy Bazaar (PB Fintech), Colgate Palmolive, Max Financial, Sona BLW Precision and Tata Elxsi which saw deals between Rs 141 crore and 41 crore.

Source: NuvamaAs for the smallcap stocks, block deals worth Rs 4,345 crore were struck in 12 companies. The number one spot went to Aster DM Healthcare (Rs 2,041 crore) followed by CDSL Systems (Rs 1,515 crore) and Rategain Travel Technologies (Rs 251 crore). The others were SG Mart, Ethos, CE Infosystems, Aditya Vision, Five Star Business Finance, HFCL, BLS International, Restaurant Brands Asia and Global Health which saw deals between Rs 99 crore and 50 crore.

Nuvama also reported prominent bulk, block and insider deals in 7 stocks. Among them were Mankind Pharma where Beige sold shares worth Rs 2,470 crore. In Aster DM, Olympus Capital sold shares worth Rs 406 crore while Nippon India MF bought shares worth Rs 405 crore.

The other stocks which saw prominent bulk, block and insider deals include Samhi Hotels, Ethos, Aditya Vision and Vijaya Diagnostics.
