US stocks open lower after hot payrolls data stokes rate cut worries

Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Friday after a better-than-expected jobs report fanned expectations that the Federal Reserve will take a measured approach to monetary policy easing this year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 94.9 points, or 0.22%, at the open to 42540.29. The S&P 500 fell 27.9 points, or 0.47%, to 5890.35, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 166.6 points, or 0.86%, to 19312.261.
