UFC star Colby Covington is back to running his mouth with some outlandish comments.
Covington, who is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and a proud member of the “go woke go broke” crowd, recently appeared on NewsMax to share his thoughts on a variety of topics.
The former interim champ echoed his claims that the judges rigged his UFC 296 bout against him for supporting Trump, before turning his attention to the NFL.
That’s when everything went off of the rails.
Covington claims that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are involved in a fake relationship to get their ratings up. He falsely claims that the NFL is “going through some of the worst ratings they’ve ever had in history.”
And, because he had to stay on brand, Covington took a shot at Kelce’s Pfizer commercial.

“It’s disgusting. It’s despicable what Travis Kelce has done,” Covington said. “How ironic that the NFL is going through some of the worst ratings they’ve ever had in history. And all of a sudden, they’re going to get one of the most famous people on the Earth that’s going to start having a fake relationship with one of their players. And then, they’re putting that same player in a position to be an advocate for a double shot.
“I’m against vaccines, but I’m pro-choice, so I think you should be able to decide what’s healthy for your body.”
There’s a whole lot to unpack in that brief statement, but it’s blatantly false.
The NFL ratings are booming. As Awful Announcing notes, the Raiders-Chiefs game drew the NFL’s best Christmas Day ratings since 1989. The Christmas Day primetime game between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers was the second-highest-rated Monday Night Football game in 27 years.
Facts won’t stop blowhards like Covington from trying to fire off their talking points though. And he has the nerve to call Kelce a shill rather than look in a mirror.
“It’s just irresponsible by Travis Kelce,” Covington said. “It’s no mistake that he’s having some of the worst career stats that he’s ever had right now because of all the negative that clouds him. He sold his soul to the devil, and it’s sad to see. Travis Kelce is nothing more than a shill. And he’s going downhill fast; go woke, go broke.”
Yet another statement full of lies.
Yes, the Chiefs have been struggling, but it is a lot more than just Kelce. In fact, Kelce is one of the lone bright spots on Kansas City’s offensive unit.
But what else do you expect from Colby Covington? He has to stay relevant somehow.
