The NSE Nifty50 index ended 388.71 points at 23616.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 1258.12 points at 77964.99.
Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 1.8%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.8%), Titan Company Ltd.(up 0.55%) and HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.33%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, ITC Ltd.(down 8.09%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 4.47%), Trent Ltd.(down 4.24%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 3.9%), Coal India Ltd.(down 3.79%), NTPC Ltd.(down 3.64%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 3.52%), Bharat Electronics Ltd.(down 3.36%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 3.21%) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 3.18%) closed in the red.
