Sonakshi Sinha recently spoke about her whirlwind love story with husband Zaheer Iqbal during an appearance on Kareena Kapoor’s chat show What Women Want. The actress revealed that she confessed her feelings to Zaheer within just a week of meeting him, describing it as “love at first sight.”
Recalling the moment, Sonakshi said, “Maine Zaheer ko ek hafte mein hi bol diya tha ki I love you. I was very excited. There was some recognition, koi click hota hai na jab aap jaante ho ki ye aapka hi insaan hai and this is your person. That sort of happened with me, and it never happened with me before. I always used to take my time, but with him, it was instant.”
Sonakshi admitted she was the first to fall in love, while Zaheer took his time. She added, “Ladko ko thoda time bhi lagta hai. He is one of those boys jo apna time lagaate hai. Wo bhi ek stage pe tha jahan par usko pata tha agar main padunga ismein toh ye permanent hi hoga. Isliye he took his time.”
The couple kept their relationship under wraps for years before officially tying the knot on June 23 in a private ceremony at Sonakshi’s Mumbai residence. Their registered marriage was followed by a star-studded reception attended by Bollywood icons like Salman Khan, Huma Qureshi, Rekha, and Kajol.
Sonakshi and Zaheer’s love story spans over seven years of dating before taking the plunge. Their chemistry and mutual admiration have often been evident during public appearances, though they stayed tight-lipped about their relationship status until this year.
During a candid session at CNN-News18 Mumbai Townhall 2024, the couple revealed their reasons for staying private. “I feel it’s always better to keep private things private,” Sonakshi said. “You’re already so much in the limelight; everybody knows everything about you. Something that is so dear to you should be kept for yourself.”
