Dawood Ibrahim of underworld don most wanted in Karachi hospital after poisoning

On December 18, social media platforms buzzed with unverified reports suggesting that the notorious gangster-terrorist, Dawood Ibrahim, was teetering on the edge of life due to poisoning. 

Seeking refuge in Karachi, Pakistan, it is widely acknowledged that Ibrahim has successfully evaded capture since being labelled a global terrorist by India and the United States in 2003. His involvement in the devastating 1993 Bombay bombings earned him a $25 million bounty on his head, securing his place as the world’s third most wanted criminal according to Forbes and the FBI in 2011.

Despite the perplexing persistence of rumours regarding his demise, which emerge on social media once or twice every year, all of these claims have proven to be baseless. While Ibrahim’s presence in Pakistan is widely accepted, the nation vehemently denies harbouring him within its borders.

In the year 2020, reports circulated stating that Ibrahim and his wife had fallen victim to the dreaded Covid-19, with some even asserting that he had succumbed to the virus. However, these claims were swiftly debunked, even though the virus did tragically claim the life of Ibrahim’s nephew, Siraj Kaskar, in Pakistan.

In 2017, rumours swirled that Ibrahim had succumbed to a heart attack, while others speculated that a malignant brain tumour had ravaged his health. Yet again, these assertions were proven false, with Ibrahim’s loyal confidante, Chota Shakeel, boldly asserting, “Can you hear my voice? Does it sound like any such thing has happened? These are all baseless rumours, Bhai is fit and fine.”

The year 2016 witnessed rumours suggesting that Ibrahim’s legs were on the verge of amputation due to a severe case of gangrene. Ultimately, these reports turned out to be utterly groundless.
