Chinese zoo blasted for dyeing ‘panda dogs’ but denies cheating customers | World | News by StuffsEarth

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, the so-called “panda dogs” are shown in an enclosure, drawing swarms of visitors, according to the sanctuary’s workers.

When questioned about the dogs’ panda costume, a representative said, “We wanted to do this as a result” since the zoo does not have any panda bears.

A zoo official told NBC News that the panda dogs are still on exhibit as of May 10.

The outlet also reported that the zoo had responded to criticism about its choice to dye the dogs, telling Qilu Evening News that it’s normal for dogs to dye their hair.

“Normal people dye their hair,” a spokesperson told Qilu Evening News. “Dogs can dye their hair, too. It’s the same as hair.”

Many people took to social media to express their awe over the panda dogs’ outfits and new look with one user writing, “They are very small to run that fast! I think they’re lovely.”

“Well that’s an extreme way to get your dogs cared for while you’re at work lol,” another user said.
